About Us

Garden Oaks Fine Accommodation (GOFA) is a partnership registered in British Columbia to meet a variety of housing needs in the Capital Region. Over recent years, we have consolidated operations into four adjacent properties in Victoria’s Oaklands neighbourhood. 

Principals Robert Tornack and John James O’Brien are now happily returned to the Oaklands neighbourhood of Victoria from international experience in governance, knowledge management and health systems. With a strong commitment to building community, they enjoy their housing provider roles as integral to creating a great place to be, in Victoria, for now and for the next generations.

Oaklands Rise Woonerf

As co-leads of a grassroots initiative to protect and enhance the designated pedestrian greenway of Kings Road, Rob and John have helped, with a small group of like-minded woonervians and support of some 240 households, to create “place.” Visit the Oaklands Rise Woonerf website to learn more about this special project.

John is enjoying time in his studio, creating art or writing, so is no longer taking on design projects. But, if you have a design challenge and would like ideas, reach out. An 60 minute session includes learning of your concerns and offering suggestions to consider.
